February 2017 Newsletter

Our first meeting of 2017 started off at ten o’clock sharp with  the AGM.
Bert opened the meeting by welcoming everyone present and wishing all a happy new year.
After all the formalities were gone through including voting the existing committee in to carry on for another year the meeting ended with Bert presenting Chris Withall with the Bill Alston trophy for gaining the highest number of points in the monthly table top competition for 2016.

The rest of the day was a club day with the usual couple of lathes out and people doing a bit of mini demonstrating, a lot of talking and generally enjoying a relaxing day with friends.

A few pics in the gallery to describe the day.
That took care of January.

Our next meeting is on Saturday 11th February and we have Jason Smith with us for the day.
Jason was our demonstrator last February and his work was aimed very much at decoration. Will he have a different theme this time? Come along and find out.

Also we have the club annual dinner on Saturday 18th February so you have got a couple of weeks to put the finishing touches to that piece you are entering for the Orchard Memorial Trophy.

Unfortunately there is already a change to the events calendar for this year. Paul Nesbitt has had to cancel his visit to us in July.
Due to health reasons he has had to give up his work and will be retiring to the west country.
Matthew will be looking for a replacement as soon as possible.
